Mobile Oil Change Business in Las Vegas – Is it a Viable Business?
| Category: Automotive | No Comments
Often new entrants into the mobile oil change business will shoot me an email to learn more about this industry sector niche. Not long ago I was asked about the Las Vegas Market, for a new mobile oil change business. Indeed, I have talked with independent operators in that market and learned quite a bit. I have also caught competitors in that market attempting to shop me – pretend to be customers to get information about our “Oil Change Guys” operations.
In looking closely at the Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Summerlin, Seven Hills, Green Valley, Centennial area, I have many comments on Clark County Nevada for such a service type business.
You know Las Vegas is a tough market, as the quality of labor sucks [sorry to be blunt, but that is the truth, ask anyone], and the labor supply is tough too. All companies must compete for labor with the Casinos and tourist and entertainment industry there. Las Vegas is often the last stop for folks who have not been able to maintain behavior in other communities throughout the US.
What about the strength of the market there – well, the price points are low due to competition and Mexican business owners who do not follow the rules and work for very little. Traffic in Las Vegas area is a real problem as well, costing time and labor on the routes. Fleet business is good, but it is a matter of good sales, if you want the work.
There is a bit of competition, but there is a ton of work out there. With prices low, margins are too. If I had to pick a market to run in, it would not be Las Vegas, but if you go for it, you can make it work, by building your routes tight and spending most of your time in the beginning doing sales. Sincerely, Lance.
